Question: Can I record a DVD on to my Replay? Can I copy a DVD with the Replay?
Answer: Yes, and No. You can record a DVD (even with Macrovision) to your Replay for later, time-shifted viewing. This is even true with the Panasonic Showstopper models since they received the 3.02 software, although earlier software on the Showstoppers prevented this. However, if there is Macrovision protection on the source, it will be re-inserted into the video output when played back. So any attempts to make a copy from the Replay recording will result in problems.

I have a product called Video Copy Master from SIMA. It very effectively removes Macrovision from the video stream, thereby allowing me to record DVD's to my ReplayTV.

You can copy a DVD to the Replay and watch it off the Replay as much as you want. But you can't just play it back and expect to be able to record it back to a tape.
