Question: Do I need to leave the Digital Cable box on????
Answer: I have a Motorola Digital Cable box and a replay 5040, I thought that if a recording was scheduled that it would turn on the cable box ....change the channel... and start recording but all I got was a black screen. Should the cable box be left on all the time? Thanks
jleavens writes: Gotta leave the cable box on. The Replay does not turn it on automatically, nor will it turn it off at the end of a recording. The Replay assumes that the box is always on.

jleavens writes: no. You need to leave the box on.

Is this true for Hughes Directv boxes? Thanks
jleavens writes: Yes. Satellite boxes should be left on as well. The Replay will not turn on or off any cable or satellite boxes.

My Digital Cable box apparently does need to be left on to record a digital program, but my previous DirecTV setup, RP4504 series with a Sony SAS-AD3 connected with the data cable DID in fact turn on the receiver. Sometimes it failed to turn off, but while that was hit and miss, the Replay through the data cable turned ON the Sat Box.
